Shooting at Howe Park Results in Multiple Gunshot Victims in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Law enforcement in Sacramento are looking into a violent incident that occurred Saturday night April 18 at Howe Park in Sacramento as authorities were breaking up an unsanctioned gathering of several hundred people.

What Led to the Shooting

Deputies first arrived at the Arden-Arcade park around 6:30 PM on April 18 after being notified of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. After that, a follow-up call was made describing an alleged brawl happening inside the park.

A sheriff's airship flew over the park but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Regardless, deputies found that hundreds of people had come together at the location without any permit or approval.

The Shooting Itself

Officers began the process of clearing the park by forming a perimeter and issuing commands over loudspeakers ordering those gathered to go home. Nearly 15 minutes were provided for the gathering to break up.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged. The barrage of gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Officers at once began locating gunshot victims.

Four People Shot

When the dust settled, four people were located with gunshot injuries. Those injured — a group of one female and three male victims each apparently in their 20s — were transported to local Sacramento hospitals. Emergency physicians confirmed that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, all four were expected to survive.

Crime Scene Evidence

The center of the incident was determined to have taken place on the Cottage Way corridor adjacent to the local Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. This evidence pointed to that a shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot building and parking lot. Arrests Made

Details gathered through scanner monitoring indicated that a vehicle identified as a Kia was pulled over in Solano County. Four detainees were taken into custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to transport the detainees for investigation. Footage analyzed by investigators showed that two shooters had been involved.
